Not only is Microsoft trying it's best to force EVERYONE to create a Microsoft Account in order to use their computer, it's also enabling BitLocker by default on their device. This needs to be an OPT-IN service, with a detailed explanation about the pros and cons. Because what happens when poor 90 year old Barbara needs to have a repair done that requires the BitLocker recovery key? Of course she doesn't know what Bitlocker is or what email she used. So either she loses all her stuff, or whoever is doing the repair job will have to spend hours of their time backtracking, guessing, and praying the key is linked to their Microsoft Account. The disconnect between Microsoft and the average consumer seems to be getting worse, but as long as the stock price gets better, nothing will ever change.
