There are many situations in which a business might be sued under liquor liability laws. A drunken patron may cause a car accident on his way home. A bar patron might suffer a broken arm as the result of a fight he was in as the result of the alcohol. A woman might claim that she has suffered mental damages as the result of alcohol produced by your brewery. But unfortunately, only around 35% of businesses that should have liquor liability insurance actually have it.

If you operate a business that sells, serves, manufactures, or provides alcohol to patrons or guests under a state license, a Liquor Liability policy should be part of your business insurance portfolio.

Liquor Liability insurance may be offered as an addition, or endorsement, to a commercial general liability insurance policy or as a separate, stand-alone policy. It can cover various risks and costs, depending on the coverage you choose, including: assault and battery liability; bodily injury; employee use liability; legal defense costs; mental, emotional, psychological damages; and property damage.

Establishments typically insured for liquor liability include breweries, caterers, restaurants, retail stores, taverns, tasting rooms, vineyards, and wholesale distributors.
