Flexi Cap Funds give the fund manager the freedom to invest in stocks across market capitalization. However, the fund manager's investment style is vital as it determines the churn rate of the fund. Some large cap funds may now have done well because they have a higher allocation to mid cap stocks and small cap stocks. This is because currently mid cap stocks and small cap stocks have done well. Small cap category is the widest category. But to gain from the small cap category one needs a long term investment horizon. Now, the small cap space is so wide that one may see very little overlap in small cap fund portfolios.
