The M157 engine has been widely used in the AMG variants of Mercedes throughout the 2010s. The cylinder bore of the M157 features 'Silitec' technology, which casts a hypereutectic aluminum sleeve into the block during manufacturing. Essentially, Silitec is a variant of the Alusil technology family. Over the past 20 years, Alusil has been shown to be unstable. German Alusil engines like the BMW S65 and Audi EA837 may experience symptoms such as serious oil consumption and power loss. Despite the reliability issues, the M157 is a great engine, capable of producing 700HP with a simple tune.

In this video, we will discuss our wet conversion solution for the M157 and explain why we chose this approach. We will also provide details about the machining complexity compared to Silitec.
