Road Trip in Albania

We rented a car at Tirana airport and drove around southern Albania, visiting Himarë, Gjirokaster, Përmet, and Berat. Then we took a bus to Shkodër, Valbonë and hiked Valbonë to Theth, and finally went back Tirana by bus. It was a road trip with additional activities.
Himarë faces the beautiful and clear Ionian Sea and is near the Greek island of Corfu. Gjirokaster and Berat have unique townscapes that are UNESCO world Heritage sites. Përmet has well-known hot springs nearby.
Shkodër is the cultural and economic hub of northern Albania. Valbonë and Theth are surrounded by beautiful mountains in the Valbona Valley National Park and Theth National Park, respectively.
Albania retains the influence of the Ottoman Empire, Greece, and Italy in many places. It has few tourists, the food is tasty, the people are friendly, and it is a country full of interesting sights.
The main roads in Albania are well maintained and there are many gas stations. Although there are occasionally drivers who overtake unsafely, I still found it very easy to drive."

ティラナの空港でレンタカーを借りて、ヒマラ、ジロカストラ、ペルメト、ベラトとアルバニア南部をぐるりと周りました。その後、バスでシュコダル、バルボネに移動して、バルボネからテスへはハイキング、そしてまたテスからシュコダル、ティラナにバスで戻るというロードトリップ＋αの旅です。
ギリシャ領のコルフ島（ケルキア島）が至近で、美しく澄んだイオニア海に面したヒマレ。独特な街並みが世界遺産にも登録されているジロカストラ、ベラト。近くに有名な温泉があるペルメト。
アルバニア北部の文化・経済の中心地シュコダル。バルボネ渓谷国立公園とテス国立公園の中にあり、美しい山々に囲まれたバルボネとテス。
オスマントルコ帝国やギリシャ、イタリアの影響が随所に残るアルバニアは、観光客もまだまだ少なく、食べ物も美味しく、人柄も良く、見どころがいっぱいの国でした。
アルバニアの主要道路は良く整備されており、ガスステーションも多いです。たまに無理な追い抜きをしてくるドライバーもいますが、非常に運転しやすいと感じました。
