Lake Tahoe is known for its fast-pace lake trout fishing. However, from August through September the kokanee fishing can out duel the lakers. During late summer the kokanee mass in front of Taylor Creek in preparation to spawn.

Guide Mike Nielsen of Tahoe Topliners spends his time jigging for the kokanee and often catches and releases more than two dozen fish an hour with clients. Here's a quick rundown of how easy bites come when the fishery is approached properly.
