The Hello Herman Project -- A National Anti-Bullying Initiative Using the Arts to have a lasting impact.

Using the play, "Hello Herman", we plan to engage and activate young people in a creative effort to combat and eliminate bullying in our society. "Hello Herman" is a play about bullying gone to extremes and to a devastating outcome. The play helps provide a context for a national discussion and collective creative effort to combat bullying.

WHY? Facts about Bullying and School Violence
1 in 3 students have been bullied
20% of young people admit to having bullied others
9 out of 10 LGBT students have been bullied
In about 85% of bullying cases, no adults intervene
3 out of 10 students who have been bullied brought weapons to school
Bullying has been present in 2 out of 3 school shootings

OUR GOALS:
• To stimulate an interactive dialogue and forum about bullying so parents, coaches and educators have what they need to stop this epidemic.

•To challenge young people to explore the many facets of bullying with creative vehicles that encourage and reward them to safely express how they feel about the subject.

• To create a beautiful "national video quilt" made from thousands of video
submissions that can be seen and shared by everyone.

Ultimately, we want to provide programs for schools to utilize, using the voices of our young people and strategies from experts. We also plan to work with strategic partners and influencers to make sure that all states, local governments and schools have the laws, policies and programs to eliminate bullying in our schools.
