On July 28, 2025, Midtown Manhattan’s 345 Park Avenue erupted in chaos when 27‑year‑old Shane Devon Tamura opened fire with an M4‑style rifle.

The attack began in the lobby, killing NYPD Officer Didarul Islam and a security guard, before Tamura rode an elevator to the 33rd floor, where he fatally shot Julia Hyman of Rudin Management and wounded an NFL employee before taking his own life.

Authorities later discovered a note blaming the NFL for his brain injuries, referencing chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE), and requesting that his brain be studied. Tamura’s intended target appeared to be the NFL offices, located in the same building.
