Billy Arjan Singh was born in a royal house; he preferred to live in the jungle. Starting off as a hunter, he became a renowned conservationist. He was acutely aware of the heritage he was born into, yet he carved out a special place for himself in a world far from the social order he was part of ever since his birth.
He did not marry yet he fathered children! Irrespective of the fact that they were not human babies, they were still his children. He lived with his leopards and tigers worked on a research project to rehabilitate them in the wild.
There were many high points in his life but none can match up to the time he spent in the company of his beloved Tara: his zoo born tigress.

In the book: Tiger of Dudhwa, Billy's life-story has been characterized by his triumph, tragedy, drama, tragedy, despair, anxiety, anticipation, excitement and finally of deepest historical wildlife significance.
