Dr. Christopher DeCock's lecture "Bioethics, Brain Death, and Human Dignity" was given at FranU on October 2, 2025. In this lecture Dr. DeCock speaks about several different definitions of death and why whole brain death should be understood as the death of the human organism. After this, he discusses several different practices such as Normothermic regional perfusion (NRP) and organ donation as well as full body gestational donation and whether these are in accord with human dignity.

Dr. Christopher DeCock is a clinical professor of Pediatrics at University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Health Sciences and practices pediatric neurology and epilepsy at Essentia Health in Fargo, ND. He holds an MS in Bioethics from the University of Mary and serves as the Co-Chair of Essentia's West Market ethics committee. Dr. DeCock is currently serving as an Observer for the Uniform Law Commission's Drafting Committee on the Revision for the Uniform Determination of Death Act. He has been a guest on the NCBC podcast "Bioethics on Air" and has published on death determination in Neurology, Chest, Linacre Quarterly and National Catholic Bioethics Quarterly. He is married to his best friend, Rosie, and they have four kids ages 8-15.
