But here’s the question:
If three bottles all came from the same place… why do they taste so different?

2. Brother’s Bond Original Cask Strength – ~115 Proof
• Sourced from MGP
• Mash bill: Approx. 65% corn, 22% rye, 13% malted barley
• Tasting Notes: Caramel, sweet oak, light leather
• MSRP: ~$85
• Fun Fact: Founded by actors Ian Somerhalder & Paul Wesley from The Vampire Diaries

3. Circle City Single Barrel Series – 114.6 Proof
• MGP-sourced, high-rye mash bill (75/21/4)
• Tasting Notes: Brown sugar, oak char, warm baking spice
• MSRP: ~$70
• Barrel Proof & Non-Chill Filtered

We tasted all three MGP-sourced bourbons back-to-back, blind-style, to remove label bias and celebrity hype.

🧠 What is MGP?

Midwest Grain Products (MGP) is the powerhouse behind much of America’s whiskey boom. Based in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, MGP built its reputation on producing high-rye bourbon and 95% rye whiskey, supplying brands across the country.

But here’s the twist: MGP doesn’t market under its own name. Instead, it sells barrels to independent bottlers, celebrities, upstart brands, and established companies—who then age, blend, finish, and label the product however they choose.

So that bottle of “craft” bourbon?
It may have MGP DNA… with a whole lot of lipstick and PR slapped on top.
