So this game turned out to be a lot easier than I think anyone was expecting. Once you get everything down it's really not that bad. You can make most things very consistent and there are only a couple of spots that are troublesome. I think most people would agree it's somewhere around Ten Desires in terms of survival difficulty.

Bullet visibility is still an issue, but there are some ways to alleviate it. One of those is timing border activations to darken the background and make the bullets more visible. This is used at the end of stage 3 for example.

Marisa is easily the best for survival in this game. She is an absolute boss killer and bosses are easily the main threat of the game. The other shottypes also don't have enough going for them to outweigh Marisa in the long run. Reimu is weaker and has no smaller hitbox and Youmu can't do anything during dense patterns. Marisa has some trouble with the stage 4 pre-midboss wisps, but that's about it. You could trivialize that section with MarisaEagle in exchange for some slightly less damage on bosses, but I'm not sure yet if that's worth it.

The first three stages are fairly trivial. There's not much there that can kill you except for maybe the stage 2 boss last non randomly walling you. You can still dodge it if that happens though.
Stage 3 is extremely residentsleeper. Last spell is easy if you stay in the top-left of the screen.

Stage 4 turned out to be easier if you don't timeout the midboss. The pattern is quite difficult and the stuff you normally skip isn't as hard as it first seemed.
Stage 5 midboss spin is debatable, it's not particularly risky but doing it the normal way is definitely faster.
Stage 6 midboss spin is still free with no reason not to do it though.

Trouble spots I'd say are:
Stage 4 pre-midboss wisps.
Stage 5 last non.
Stage 6 spell 3.
Stage 6 penultimate spell.

Penultimate is still the hardest thing in the game. It's still quite inconsistent even after you've practiced it a million times.
