This one is really cool. Located just below Columbia, South Carolina, this paved, part-boardwalk trail hugs the Congaree River. I began at one end of the trail, at the H. Kelley Jones Park, and traveled out-and-back. There's lots of unique structures and bridges, historic markers, and trailside art. There's even an amphitheatre and a restaurant just steps off the path. But the star of the show is the river. One complaint - the trail is really too narrow for bicycles. Just go slow and be watchful; kids and pets are unpredictable. All in all, a VERY enjoyable trail.
