Teen takes off hoping to become youngest ever to fly solo to all 7 continents | ABS-CBN News

Asian-American teenager, Ethan Guo, hopes to set a Guinness World Record as he takes off on a journey around the world aiming to become the youngest person ever to fly solo to all seven continents in a small plane.

On Tuesday (August 6), 19-year-old Guo took off from Geneva, Switzerland in his modified four-seater Cessna 182, embarking on a trip that is expected to take 100 days, flying over 50,000 miles, with stops in 60 countries.

His solo-flight is not just about setting a record, Guo has also set himself the goal of raising $1 million for child cancer research, inspired by his cousin who was diagnosed with the disease in 2021.

During his stops in all continents, except Antarctica, Guo will visit cancer hospitals and meet with children battling the disease.

If his specific record is approved by Guinness World Records and he completes the challenge, Guo will be the first person to hold the record. -Report from Reuters
