After an audit revealed a lack of background check protocol for the Social Services Administration, a state lawmaker shared his first-hand experience with the foster care system and said the findings hit close to home.

Del. Mike Griffith, a Republican representing Cecil and Harford Counties, described the latest report from the Office of Legislative Audits “staggering.” The audit revealed a lack of criminal background checks resulted in seven people on the sex offender registry had the same address as guardianship homes and during the same time period, 10 kids were living at those addresses.
