Uncovering The Appeal Of Dual PhDs And Joint Programs

Описание к видео Uncovering The Appeal Of Dual PhDs And Joint Programs

There are a lot of common joint PhD or dual PhD programs that one could think of: PhD and law degree, PhD and MD, and PhD and MBA programs.

I personally am a big fan of them because they give you options. If you find out that you do not like one thing you can do another.

It also allows you to see things much more creatively than others. Having a different view point gives you a new perspective.

You should also think about what they are training you to become. If you are doing a PhD / Law degree, you are likely going to work in a law school as a professor. A PhD and MBA program will likely get you to work in a pharma company, and a PhD / MD program will train you to do research at a med school.

You can also create your own PhD program by taking courses in a particular area. I find that people are generally nice, and will allow you to take courses in anything in university. It benefitted me a lot to take difficult courses in other areas (PhD in Finance / Econometrics) while I was doing my PhD in Strategy.

What are the problems with doing a joint PhD degree?

1. Not everyone is going to be supportive. It requires extra work for other people to do this, but aware that you are putting a lot of stress on them.

2. It will likely take you longer to finish your PhD. If you are worried about getting well trained, than this is worth the time to pursue the extra training. However, it will be depressing when you see other people graduate that did not do this route.

3. Some people are going to discount you as being not serious about a particular topic. If you are pursuing other things, they believe that you are not taking the current topic seriously enough.

David Maslach is a research professor of entrepreneurship, innovation, and business strategy, I discuss topics, such as behavioral science, strategy, innovation, and entrepreneurship, and apply these to my new peer proofreading and editing platform. Topics include the sharing economy, altruism, investing in technology, starting a business, and bounded rationality. My favorite videos pertain to incentives, goal setting, and learning from failure to drive behaviors such as weight loss, stopping telemarketers, creating novel technologies, and creating new movements.

https://r3ciprocity.com: Peer proofreading and editing platform

A new platform where you can earn credits by editing other people's documents. Use these credits to have your own work edited. If you do a good enough job, you can convert these credits to money.

The goal of the platform is to get people to 'pay it forward' and help other people out by creating incentives for people to give back.
