A Guide to Creating Symbolic Links on Windows Using the mklink Command

Symbolic links in Windows, created using the `mklink` command, function as pointers to other files or directories, offering shortcuts without duplicating data. Open Command Prompt as administrator and use `mklink` followed by the link's name and the target path. For file links, use `mklink link target_file-`. To create directory links, use `mklink /D -link target_directory-`. Hard links, using `mklink /H -link -target_file-`, create an additional entry in the file system pointing to the same data. Be cautious with relative paths, as they're relative to the link's location. Symbolic links act as shortcuts, reflecting changes in the target, while hard links are independent entries. Deleting a symbolic link doesn't affect the target, whereas deleting a hard link only removes that specific entry.
