Best spark plug wires for EFI Ford

There are a lot of options when choosing a spark plug wire for your small block 302 ford motor with Electronic Fuel Injection. Today, we are going to look at a few of them.

First, let’s break down what a plug wire is. Plug wires are almost all constructed with very similar components consisting of a Center Core, a Conductive suppression layer, an Insulator, a fiberglass braid, and the outer silicone jacket. The purpose of the spark plug wire is to move electricity from point A to point B, without any of the charge getting out of the wire, or allowing any outside electric charge in. I recently installed the Edlebrock ProFlo 4 on my Bronco, and they are very specific about the spark plug wires you run because a cheap wire can emit electronic charges or pulses that can interfere with the electronic signals that the ECU on my EFI is reading.

When you search on Amazon, you are going to see a couple numbers thrown around.

1. Wire thickness - These numbers are 8mm, 9mm, 10mm and this mostly deals with under hood temps. The thicker the wire, the more heat it can withstand.

2. Wire design - Solid core wires are more designed for an engine that does not require as much shielding, where a spiral wound wire is better for lower resistance.

3. OHMS - The lower the number the better. Less resistance means more current to pass through the wire.

I installed these on my 1975 Ford Bronco, with the Edlebrock Pro Flo 4, but the same is true for any Mustang, F100, or any classic Ford.
