'Le Colibri' ('The Hummingbird') is a French art song written by Ernest Chausson in 1882. The lyrics are by the poet Leconte de Lisle. This is one of Chausson's most beloved songs. Through the chromaticism and lush harmonies, the song depicts the flight and death of a hummingbird that is symbolic of a man's past love. As the hummingbird dies to the nectar, also the man dies to a former lover's kiss.
