Persona 5 - "My Homie" Cover - Jam Session #3 // J-MUSIC Ensemble

Our first rehearsal of "My Homie" from Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 5, composed by Shoji Meguro, and this version arranged by Patrick Bartley.

Play the blues! Jazz comes from the blues, it can't exist without it. So if you like j-pop jazz, you gotta have some j-blues! We're super happy to have done this track because it's a unique opportunity to showcase a side of the music that we think isn't represented enough in the VGM community. Shoji-san gave a great little platform here, and we just took the melody loop and inserted a repeating 12-bar blues form for improvisation before taking the melody out. Some great solos from Pat, Taka, and once again our special guest Ben Eunson! We hope Japanese composers continue to branch out like this in the future the same way Shoji-san has (or he could just keep making more dope tracks... either works).

Hey! So, we have a confession to make (cue confession music)... We forgot about this video!! Well, maybe it makes more sense to say we thought we lost it on a corrupted SD card, but it turns out it was actually backed up to another hard drive before that happened (yay)! We have more in the reserve than we thought - which means more videos to come soon! This cut is from the 3rd session, so we included it under that title this time. We hope you enjoy!
