The Austrian Library Association organizes a two-month festival for young readers in public libraries. 12 books for children and young adults are nominated by judges. The writers and illustrators present their books in public libraries, read, and organize literacy workshops all across Austria. At the end of the festival young readers choose their favourite book. The aim of the festival is to encourage the joy of reading and give children the opportunity to meet writers. Another goal is to support libraries. Austrian Library Association provides promotion material, picture book cinemas, and teaching material.
