Ronald Reagan Saved Someone I Knew - Visit to Lowell Park in Dixon, IL

A Visit to Dixon, Illinois - the hometown of Ronald Reagan, the 40th President of the United States.

The main reason for my visit is that Ronald Reagan saved 77 lives as a Lifeguard when he was a teenager working at a beach along the Rock River at Lowell Park. One of those lives saved was a woman that used to live in my house (roughly 40 years before I lived there that is) in Spirit Lake, Iowa. She had grown up in Dixon, IL and nearly drowned one day while swimming in Lowell Park. Ronald Reagan was a lifeguard at the time, dove into the murky waters and brought her to the shore ultimately saving her life.

It amazes me the stories we all hold within ourselves, and the fascinating connections people have that any of us on a typical day are completely unaware of. I felt drawn to visit Lowell Park and share this story, to see a seemingly small piece of history to most of us but a personally deep and lifelong memory to a few.

I also want to note, this was filmed in the summer of 2019.
