Walking Days 3 & 4 of the Pieterpad: From Sittard to Swalmen

Join me as I tackle days 3 and 4 of the Pieterpad, the most famous long-distance trail in the Netherlands! Starting in Sittard, I brave grey skies, rain, and sunshine to walk 24 km to Montfort, accompanied by my dog Frodo and my teddy bear Poefi. The journey takes us through forests, fields, and wetlands in the narrowest part of the Netherlands—only 4.75 km wide at one point!

After an overnight stay in Montfort, a town marked by WWII history, I’m joined by a friend for day 4. Together, we walk 22 km from Montfort to Swalmen. The day begins with beautiful winter sunshine and ends with windy, grey weather, but the stunning scenery makes it all worthwhile.
