LOVE IN ACTION

Let's dive into a truth bomb today: "Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth." (John 3:18)

You know, it's easy to say, "I love you," but what does it mean if those words don't translate into actions? I've got a story to share, a real-life experience that made me rethink the power of love in action.

Back in 2016, my mom faced a battle with cancer. During those tough times, I had a group leader who assured me of his unwavering support. Promises were made—hospital visits, prayers, and a helping hand whenever needed. But when the storm hit and my mom passed away, he was nowhere to be found. Empty words, but lacking in genuine action.

On the flip side, a close friend of mine did the opposite. He wasn't one to shower me with verbal affirmations, but when I needed someone the most, he showed up at 6 am on a Sunday morning as my mom was slowly slipping away. His actions spoke louder than any words could.

So, here's the takeaway: "If anyone has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God’s love abide in him?" (1 John 3:17)

James echoes this sentiment, by asking what good it is to wish luck to someone in need without offering tangible help.

Simply put, saying you love someone without demonstrating it is a setup for disappointment. It's like telling a hungry person to find food instead of handing them a cheeseburger!

Jesus didn't just see dirty feet; He washed them. The Apostles didn't just sympathize with a lame man; they healed him.
