National HRD Network, Pune Chapter in association with Jnana Prabodhini’s Institute of Psychology (JPIP) organised a Webinar on “Role of Psychology and Psychometric Tools for the HR Professionals” targeted for the Senior HR Professionals on Wednesday 27-July-2022. Over 90+ HR Professionals attended this session.

The panelist were:
1. Mr. Shirish Joshi as an Expert in HRM & Organization Design;
2. Dr. Anagha Lavalekar as Expert in Psychology & Psychometric Testing
3. Mr. Shirish Kulkarni as representation of the business perspective, who orchestrated

The panel discussion which focused on:
• Employee Evaluation: Psychometric Testing- How Psychology is deeply woven in the HRM context
• Employee Selection: Role Specific Matching- How the conventionally established Industrial Psychology maps across HR functions
• Employee Engagement: Performance and Mental Wellbeing

The webinar was interactive with good participation from the audience who asked questions relevant to their area of work e.g. how to apply certain tests in the performance management, how to tailor a test specific to the organizations purpose, how to go about implementing the battery of tests for the blue collared employees to name a few. The audience was able to map the contents to their real-life situations.

The webinar concluded with the following take-aways:
1. Psychology is a key, baseline and sometimes hidden element in most of the functions of Human Resource Management, which needs a formal acknowledgement and provisions for handling various scenarios
2. There are ready tools-techniques-interpretation approaches based on formal / theoretical psychological recommendations – the institute like JPIP has such deep and comprehensive research carried out and the test are built, which are getting used / applied across the industry – we need to explore these formal approaches for our organizations
3. The HR professionals must be formally exposed and trained on the theoretical or at least application oriented aspects of Psychology to perform our roles more effectively
