August 2024 - Cantarito

The heat that August brings always make me search for yet another classic tequila cocktail that resembles a Paloma but is a little more complex. The Cantarito is a favorite due to the Mexican clay mug you serve it in that keeps the cocktail amazingly cold and adds a bit of fun in the presentation of the drink when having friends over. In this case I do opt for the grapefruit soda since you are already adding four fresh squeezed juices and the result is a wonderful and refreshing cocktail that helps you forget about the hot days of August, Similar to the Paloma this can also be easily changed into a batch drink by adding your ingredients in the proper ratio of how many drinks you want to have on hand (e.g., 8 oz tequila for 4 drinks) into a pitcher of ice (add the grapefruit soda last after you have stirred other ingredients together – then one last slow stir to mix).
