Debut EP by Russian band Putrid Requiem, Engulfed in "Rot...You Lay", is a violent statement of intent that plunges the listener into a sonic mass grave filled with rot and death. With a raw and cavernous approach, the EP dives deep into the most suffocating and funereal realms of Death Metal, clearly influenced by oldschool Swedish and American sounds, yet drenched in a characteristically Slavic foul atmosphere.

The guitars emerge as if from bloodsoaked catacombs, while the drums drag the tempo with a ritualistic cadence, supporting guttural growls that sound like an invocation of the dead. Each track is a further descent into decomposition, with crushing riffs and slow passages that flirt with Doom without losing their sheer brutality.
