This is one of my least favorite topics, but we have to talk about it. One-star Google reviews are devastating. 😞 Not just because of the impact they make on your Google My Business profile, but because it’s like a sucker punch to the gut that knocks all the wind out of you. 😩 We all love our patients and want them to have the best experience possible because we believe in what we’re doing. 𝑪𝒉𝒊𝒓𝒐𝒑𝒓𝒂𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒄 𝒄𝒂𝒏 𝒔𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒍𝒊𝒗𝒆𝒔!

Unfortunately, one-star reviews are inevitable. There will always be things that are out of our control that some patient will have a problem with. 𝐒𝐨 𝐰𝐞 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐟𝐨𝐜𝐮𝐬 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝐰𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐥 𝐭𝐨 𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐚𝐬 𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐬 𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐞𝐧𝐣𝐨𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐢𝐯𝐞-𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐰𝐞 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐰𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐝𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫. Here are the 3 most avoidable reasons that chiropractors get one-star Google reviews.

⭐️𝐌𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐖𝐚𝐢𝐭
This is especially true with new patients who may still be auditioning chiropractors and practice experiences. We’ve all had crazy days where the schedule just gets away from us and we’re hanging on to the reins for dear life hoping not to be bucked off. When that does happen 𝘼𝙏𝙏𝙄𝙏𝙐𝘿𝙀 𝙄𝙎 𝙀𝙑𝙀𝙍𝙔𝙏𝙃𝙄𝙉𝙂.

Yes, you may be feeling stressed and stretched thin, 😬 but you must acknowledge your patient’s experience and the inconvenience. Humility and generosity are extremely valuable tools to smooth over feelings of frustration.

⭐️𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐚𝐢𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐜𝐡
New patients aren’t show dogs. 🐕 Don’t make them jump through hoops to get the thing they actually want from a New Patient Special or try to upsell them if they respond to a Facebook ad or a Groupon. Even if they’re getting the service at a discounted rate, treat them as you would any other patient. 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭, 𝐚 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞.

⭐️𝐇𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐒𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐬
𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 #𝟏 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬 𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝐨𝐧𝐞-𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫 𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰𝐬. 10 or 15 years ago, before the dominance of social media, hard sales might have been a little easier to get away with. There are a lot of people who don’t respond well to these tactics and they’re usually very vocal on social media. 👩‍💻

Bad reviews cost you money. The unfortunate part is you’ll never know how much. Be compassionate. Control what you can and don’t lose sleep over what you can’t.
