I made a decision to go on a coastal hike which I rarely do in the winter but the day was just too nice. I ventured out to Duncans Cove NS, a wilderness protected area, that lies on the outer portion of Halifax Harbour. The area has no formal trails but there are several paths hikers have created over the years. Seals hang out here on nice days and sun themselves on the reef periodically diving in to the water. If you hike the entire shoreline you will pass two concrete bunkers. They were used for watching for enemy activity during WW II and protect convoys of ships supplying the effort. This is a wonderful hike with gorgeous ocean views and some wildlife.
