Yesterday was the Gauteng Climate Day of Action. The March was supported by 350 AFRICA and XR South Africa, with many Community Activists from Vaal Environmental Justice Alliance, Soweto Electricity Crisis Committee, 360° and the C-19 People's Coalition.
The march started with a bang of a short performance on demonstrating air pollution and Corporate power, at the Union Building Garden in Pretoria. At the commence, Activists then went straight to the office of the Minister at the Department of Minerals Resources and Energy (DMRE) to hand in a memorandum and demanded a Climate Emergency be declared.
The marching then proceeded where it ended at the office of Minister of Finance, with same demands from that of the DMRE and this time with emphasis about Climate Justice and for the Climate Projects to be financed. Calling out on the minister for Divestments from fossil fuels projects.
