A beautiful countryside path heads down from the loch on top of Kilpatrick hills. The views of the River Clyde, Erskine Bridge, Erskine Hospital Estate, and the city of Glasgow in the distance are fantastic.

This well kept local walking secret can only be accessed by driving through the town of Old Kilpatrick. The climb is steep and will certainly be an endurance feat but the reward on the way back down is worth it. If you pick your time right you might even see the Waverley paddle steamer whose route travels right past the spot. Unfortunately the sun angle makes it impossible to show on this walk but there are also views down to Dumbarton.

Definitely recommended for those up for a challenge. There's also a lovely Loch at the top so pack some snacks and enjoy the ambiance before the descent. You'll see cyclists wheeling their bicycles up by hand so they can charge down at break-neck speeds.
