January 11, 2021 was Opening Day at the Arizona Legislature. Although the Arizona House has sort of a "rule" that says members, guests and staff must wear face masks, it is not being enforced at all.

Besides the mask suggestion and the plexiglass desk dividers on the Floor, Pandemic Inauguration Day was different from previous years on many levels. We weren't packed like sardines on the Floor with our guests. Only newly elected representatives were allowed to have guests for Opening Day, but they had to sit in the gallery. Although we were all on the Floor for roll call, people with masks were sworn in first and allowed to participate from their offices for the rest of the proceedings. The "freedom loving," anti-science Republicans were sworn in second by a maskless judge. How many people will be sick next week?

Oh ... and Governor Doug "No Mask Mandate" Ducey didn't come to the Arizona House to give his State of the State address. Maybe he didn't want to expose himself to the germy mess.
