I'd recommend to see the real thing to decide, I'm not perfectly satisfied with the colors I got.

The red and orange section is 16 cm each, but feel free to adjust it.

The dimension doesn't really matter. Pick something convenient for the material you are using. I just cut some standard length wooden dowel in half.
