EDIT: Apparently due to a bug, the appendages that you grow out of your mouth when you become a husk are not covered by any kind of armor and damage taken to it is seemingly unaffected by talents or genes. This why I would sometimes get one shot for no reason, e.g. 2:28. As a result, it is recommended that you do not become a husk and instead use an Exosuit for this setup instead of the Makeshift Armor. You lose the stun resist from the Makeshift Armor but this setup will generally give you enough stun resist from talents and drugs that its still possible to retaliate and you will no longer get one shot randomly. Alternatively, you could use the pressure stabilizer drug to give yourself waterbreathing and pressure immunity without need for a husk infection and keep the makeshift armor for the stun resist.

Normally, going out as a diver against anything bigger than a hammerhead is considered suicide. However, it's actually possible to stack enough damage resistances and healing from gear, genes, drugs and talents to tank hits from even abyss creatures in melee. It is also possible to super buff melee damage with the right genes and talents where you can get more DPS with dual ceremonial swords than a Railgun with nuclear shells.

That being said, this setup isn't foolproof and it took me a couple tries to actually beat the Charybdis in melee. This is because while most of the time the damage I took was manageable, there were times where I would just get oneshot out of nowhere and take way more damage than usual, sometimes not even triggering implacable. There seems to be some degree of RNG with the damage and possibly some hidden bug that's causing that additional damage.

Hammerhead + Hunter genes (+100% Melee damage, +150% Melee damage on being hurt)
Moloch + Husk Genes (+25% Physical damage resistance, Husk infection resistance)
Note: The Husk genes allowed me to have a final stage husk infection without dying and thus giving me water breathing and immunity to pressure. The only downside is that the character could not use the command interface.

This setup should work for the Latcher as well (I just couldn't find one naturally because it's spawn chance is pretty low in the Great Sea). The only issue is that the Latcher has really high DPS with its bite because it has only a 1s cooldown. However, it also stays in place when attacking you so it essentially becomes a DPS race between the Latcher and the player. With implacable however you should consistently come out on top though.
