Trying a double salchow in competition for the first time as an adult skater! This jump is fairly new for me and is still inconsistent, but I wanted to take on the challenge of trying it in competition. I’m super pleased with how it went regardless of not landing it. As someone that started figure skating as an adult, this is an exciting new chapter of my journey. I’m so excited to bring you all with me on the new adventure of trying doubles in competition. This is the first of many double salchow attempts in competition to come :)

This event was a USFS level 4 compulsory jumps event. Level 4 requires a single axel, double salchow or double toe, and a three-jump combination that may include a single axel. I wanted to practice the single axel and axel combo from my program in competition so I chose this level. Previously USFS did have a separate adult track for compulsory events. The double jumps used to be an optional single or double for adult 21+ skaters.
