The Long Dark - Harderloper, Episode 10 (Attempt #3)

Описание к видео The Long Dark - Harderloper, Episode 10 (Attempt #3)

We'll be playing a modified version of Interloper Difficulty which is made to be significantly more difficult to survive in, and exploring the new base customization mechanic as well as the new trader and cougar mechanics - if we survive. I am not allowed to use any feats for this playthrough. In the previous playthrough, we completed every Tales from the Far Territory objective on vanilla Interloper difficulty. In this playthrough, I've devised a brand new custom difficulty to maximize the difficulty and put our lives into the greatest jeopardy. These are the major changes:

"Condition Recovery" for the player has been set to Low in every context, making general healing much more difficult to come by, and making Birch Bark Tea that much more valuable. We've kept "Rest As A Resource" toggled on, so we will not be able to spam sleep for healing.
"Wind Variability" and "Aurora Frequency" have both been set to their highest values, which means camping outdoors will be significantly harder and less forgiving, and night time travel will be much more dangerous, as conventional means of animal deterrence (Torches and Flares) will not work against Wolves during an Aurora.
Animal Spawns are set to Very High, for EVERY animal, from Wolves and Bears to Timberwolves and Moose. This also applies to prey animals like Rabbits, Ptarmigans and Deer. We set the "Reduce Wildlife Population Over Time" setting to None, so spawns will both start very high and remain very high for the entire game, whether that means more Deers and Rabbits in the Ravine, or more Bears, Moose and wolves to worry about in Bleak Inlet and beyond, forever. Lastly, we've set "Time to Wildlife Respawn" to Very High, which will allow us to spend a lot of arrows to clear out an area and exploring it safely - for a prolonged period of time, this is to balance areas like Bleak Inlet and Sundered Pass where Timberwolves are abundant.
"Wildlife Smell Range" has been increased to Very High, while "Scent Increased From Meat and Blood" has been set to High, which will make it so animals detect me from further away without seeing me via scent mechanics, and carrying Meat and/or Guts for a prolonged period of time will be a very dangerous thing for me to do, at all stages of the game.
We decided not to increase the "Wildlife Detection Range" setting, because increasing it causes glitchy and broken behavior among Wolf packs which would be very immersion breaking for our playthrough; Refer to NOGOA to see this glitch in action.

I will genuinely try to stay alive for a very long time and explore the entire world, so buckle up, because this series might take us a few weeks to get through - provided I can survive for that long 🤘

"The Long Dark is a thoughtful, exploration-survival experience that challenges solo players to think for themselves as they explore an expansive frozen wilderness in the aftermath of a geomagnetic disaster. There are no zombies -- only you, the cold, and all the threats Mother Nature can muster."
