Keratopigmentation, the operation used to change eye color, has become an increasingly popular cosmetic procedure. Yet the practice can be frightening, and is also quite costly.
It's possible to go from brown eyes to blue, and not just with contact lenses. An operation is possible. Although it is extreme, it is booming. In just seven days, Mounim Sahbi was given an appointment. After a few tests, the surgeon was given the go-ahead and could proceed, after locally anaesthetising the eye area.
An operation costing several thousand euros
Like a tattoo, a laser cuts the cornea to create a mini-tunnel into which it introduces a colored pigment to cover the original iris, but not the pupil. Coloration is definitive after just 30 minutes of operation. But of all the colors available, "light colors are mainly requested", explains Dr. Cyril Maillon, who performs keratopigmentation. The operation comes at a price: 7,000 euros, and even up to 12,000 euros in some clinics.

And that's a complication, because your vision will be impaired."
