To re-open its restored New Amsterdam Theatre on West 24nd Street, Walt Disney Theatrical productons offered a week of staged-concert performances of "King David," a new work by Alan Menken and Tim Rice, in May 1997. That fall, Disney opened its full-scale New Amsterdam Theatre show, "The Lion King."
Judy Kuhn as Michal, with Marcus Lovett in the title role.
This was taped during the dress rehearsal on May 14, 1997, the night before the first preview.
