Sardinia, or in Italian 'Sardegna', is not your mainstream Mediterranean destination but it is, nevertheless, a beautiful Italian island, west of mainland Italy. With over 1,800km of unspoilt coastline, it is reknown for beautiful beaches, turquoise water and a coastline with fascinating rock formations. I hope this video demonstrates just that.

And what we found with our recent visit was that Sardinian beaches tend to be quieter and quite secluded. So if you're looking for a relaxing beach vacation without the crowds, Sardinia is certainly an option for you to explore.

There are a variety of resorts and hotels to immerse yourself in, so do your research and find the accomodation that will suit your circumstance. We did hire a car from the Cagliari Airport. This was economical and easy to do but to be honest, we did not use it much. We preferred to explore the beaches on a daily morning walks that were close to where we stayed at Villasimus.

I also recommend that you charter a coastal boat trip that will allow you to swim and snorkel in the crystal clear, turquoise waters that Sardinia is famous for. For our solo charter, we paid Euro 400 for 4 hours plus fuel which was an additional Euro132. 'Il Capitano' Gabriel was proud to show us his favourite locations and after 6 swim stops we felt happy that this charter had provided us a very worthwhile experience. As you can see in this video, the water was ‘epic’.
