The Bunker (PC) Playthrough - NintendoComplete

The Bunker is a pretty unsettling game that is very similar in style to the old interactive movies that were released by the boatload for the Sega CD and 3DO systems. Thankfully its quality is substantially higher! Obviously the video quality is leaps and bounds beyond what we saw with 90s console hardware, but the real improvement comes as a result of a proper, well-written script, believable actors, and an actual set instead of CG backdrops - it was actually filmed at a decommissioned nuclear bunker in England.

There is no cheese to be found anywhere, and I think this is the first time I've ever really appreciated an FMV game that was not hamming it up. It's completely serious and it carries the tone surprisingly well. The psychological horror bit works fantastically, and there are some extremely squeamy bits tossed in for good measure.

As far as the "game" itself goes, it's like any other cursor-driven interactive movie, but without the impossibly difficult action scenes that most have, this is more an "experience" than a game. There's really no difficulty at all, and though it makes for a short game, it keeps the pacing and allows you too experience the whole thing as intended. Watching it more than once or twice really does rob it of its appeal.

With this game being released so close to Halloween, I thought it would make for some fun viewing. It's one helluva movie.
