During Kabbalat Shabbat services at Temple Israel (West Bloomfield, Mich.), Rabbi Jen Lader shared the joy of being back outside, calling it a true blessing. She reminded us that even in our darkest hours, the sun will rise again—a powerful symbol of hope and renewal.

In this week’s Torah portion, Parshat Naso, we encounter the Priestly Blessing. These 24 Hebrew words have been passed down through generations, woven into the fabric of our most sacred life moments—births, weddings, hospital rooms—wherever blessings are needed.

Rabbi Lader reflected on the beauty of tradition during this special evening, which included Confirmation, early childhood graduation, and the installation of our youth group board. Each milestone offered an opportunity to bless our children and guide them toward a future full of possibility.

She reminded us that blessings flow in all directions. To embody this, she invited some of the teens and their parents to offer blessings to the congregation—turning a moment of tradition into a shared act of spiritual generosity.
