BPPV is the most common inner ear dysfunction and form of vertigo. It occurs when “crystals” become lose in the inner ear. The most common semicircular canal impacted is the posterior canal, though any canal can be impacted (but superior/anterior is much more rare). What you personally see as “room spinning” will depend on which canal is impacted. And some people with BPPV don’t report room spinning at all.

If you suspect that you have BPPV, it’s important to be treated quickly - visit a local vestibular physical therapist to be evaluated and treated. If you continually experience positional vertigo that is not responding to repositioning techniques, consider other causes for positional vertigo, such as vestibular migraine (VM).
