Production company CLIE announced on Thursday that the Chargeman Ken! anime will get a stage musical adaptation this fall.
Makoto Kimura is directing the musical, Naohiro Ise is writing the script, and Isamu Teshima is composing the music. CLIE is in charge of planning and production. The musical will run in Tokyo at Shinjuku FACE from October 31 through November 6.

Infamous among anime fans in Japan, this 1974 series by Knack Productions is known for its nonsensical plots, absurdly incompetent animation, and brutal 10-year-old hero. See young Ken Izumi gun down wave after wave of ineffectual aliens, while dealing with misaligned animation cels, repetitive music, and a near total lack of sound effects. The best joke is that none of this was meant as a joke.
Knack Productions' series of 65 five-minute episodes gained popularity for its low quality after Line Communications released the series on DVD in Japan in 2007. The story focuses on 10-year-old Ken, who transforms into a superhero to protect earth from invaders called Juralians.
Discotek Media released the series on DVD in October 2017. Crunchyroll began streaming the series in the United States and Canada in July 2017.
