Epicurus — The Cure for Happiness

Описание к видео Epicurus — The Cure for Happiness

Epicurus was the first real philosopher of happiness. Epicurus philosophy was different to the other Ancient Greek philosophers who thought about the good life—Socrates, Plato, Aristotle, Diogenes and the Cynics—who thought about it in the more moral terms of virtue and goodness. Following Democritus Epicurus put away the metaphysics and the spiritual thinking and believed in a mechanical universe free from and religious perspectives. Setting aside design, the gods and goodness Epicurus focused on how to be happy and live the best life. In this episode we explore the four part cure for the pains and sufferings of life. We look at Epicurus philosophy on death, Epicurus philosophy on God and Epicurus philosophy of pleasure and pain.
