A Grand Piano Muffler system assists the pianist or player pianos to achieve a more desirable listening environment (for certain situations) by decreasing the volume level of the piano. Sliding the felt rail into place between the hammers and strings decreases the impact of the hammer striking the string. The volume is decreased without distorting the tone or shortening the notes sustain. The feel of the key is unchanged after the engagement of a muffler system. A GPM truly puts the piano in the background for dinner parties, by keeping the music from intruding upon your conversations. Vibrations traveling through walls and floors are reduced with a softer impact of the hammer. Grand Piano Mufflers are custom fit to each piano and can be installed on most grands.
