Before you start with your yard test , you must first do your pre trip inspection, first the exterior ( out side inspection ) and the interior (inside inspection)

Outside
1. Look under the vehicle for any leaks or obstructions
2. Right side mirror clean and intact.
3. Right indicator clean and intact.
4. Right front wheel: Check tire tread, pressure, no damage on the side of the tire, valve is
closed, nuts are fastened and no leaks.
5. Right wiper clean and intact.
6. Right headlight and indicator is clean and intact.
7. Bonnet closed. Water, oil, brake fluid and fan belt already checked.
8. Left headlight and indicator checked same as right side.
9. Number plate valid and agrees with licence disk.
10. Left wiper checked same as right wiper.
11. Licence disk valid.
12. Left indicator checked same as right side indicator.
13. Left side mirror checked same as right side mirror.
14. Left front wheel checked same as right front wheel.
15. Left back wheel checked same as right front wheel.
16. All the back lights checked same as front lights.
17. Number plate checked same as front number plate.
18. Back wiper checked same as front wipers.
19. Petrol cab closed with no leaks.
20. Right back wheel checked same as right front wheel.
Inside
1. All the doors are closed.
2. Hand brake up and gears in neutral.
3. Seat and mirrors adjusted correctly.
4. No obstructions in the vehicle.
5. Switch vehicle on without starting. Check that all warning lights and meters work.
6. Examiner will test the following: Park lights, dim lights, head lights, front left and right
indicators, wipers, hooter, brake lights, back left and right indicator.
Starring procedure
1. Safety belt fastened.
2. Hand brake is up and gears are in neutral.
3. Star engine.
4. Mention that all warning lights are off and meters are working.
5. Mention that vehicle has no choke.
Yard test last a maximum of 20 minutes. Don’t obtain more than 50 penalty points.
