In a strategic move to bolster its special forces' capabilities, the Bundeswehr (German army) has awarded Heckler & Koch, a renowned small arms manufacturer, a contract for the production and delivery of a cutting-edge special weapon known as the "silent special weapon for special forces." This weapon, based on the HK437 platform and chambered in .300 Blackout (7.62 x 35 mm), will be introduced into the Bundeswehr arsenal under the designation G39. The contract, reported by the German media outlet Hardpunkt, was finalized in mid-February 2024.
