We recently went to the 16th Annual Handicraft Fair, Saras Mela for the fist time and we were pretty impressed with the artisans and their products.

The fair saw artisans from nooks of West Bengal and nearby states like Nagaland, Odisha, Assam, Goa, Rajasthan, Gujrat and so on.

The shops offered a wide variety of handicrafts and handloom products at very reasonable rates. In an adjacent premises food stalls were also set-up where one could find native Bengali, Oriya and Bihari delicacies. Live performances by folk artists was also an added charm.

The fair is an annual event. It's a must visit for people looking to connect with local Indian art and designs, who have a love for handlooms or just to spend some time admiring Made in India products and go #vocalforlocal
