Thousands fill streets of Iran as President Raisi laid to rest

Iran's President Ebrahim Raisi was buried in the Iranian holy city of Mashhad on Thursday as many thousands of mourners packed the streets from Tehran to Birjand for his funeral procession, four days after he died in a helicopter crash.

Eight passengers and crew were killed when the helicopter crashed in mountainous terrain near the Azerbaijan border. They included foreign minister Hossein Amirabdollahian, who was buried on Thursday in the city of Rey, south of the capital Tehran.
