Описание к видео Classic Memes 38 (Gingers Do Have Souls!)

“Gingers Do Have Souls” is a catchphrase from a vlog by YouTuber CopperCab (Michael Kittrell), where he passionately defends himself against bullying due to his red hair. The video, marked by its raw emotion and memorable lines like “I’m Ginger, and proud of it!”, led to numerous remixes, mash-ups, and response videos.

The phrase "gingers have no soul" originates from the "Ginger Kids" episode of South Park, which aired on November 9th, 2005. In this episode, Eric Cartman gives a presentation about red-headed children and a fictitious disease called “Gingervitis.”

On January 14th, 2010, 18-year-old CopperCab uploaded the video titled "GINGERS DO HAVE SOULS!!" on YouTube. In the video, CopperCab vehemently expresses his frustrations with the discrimination against redheads. The video quickly went viral, garnering over 3.1 million views and more than 600 response videos within the first month.

The controversy around red-headed discrimination was already a topic before the video, particularly due to the South Park episode inspiring incidents like “National Kick a Ginger Day” on Facebook, which led to real-life bullying in schools.

The video gained a massive amount of attention and spawned various responses, remixes, and parodies. One notable parody involved CopperCab's parents, who posted a video on February 24th, 2010, initially apologizing for their son’s rants before joining in with their own expressions of ginger pride.

South Park itself parodied CopperCab’s rant in a promotional clip for its 14th season, featuring a red-haired Eric Cartman mimicking the YouTuber.

CopperCab continued to make videos, including an emotional "APOLOGY FOR SLAVERY" video on January 19th, 2011, where he apologized for the historical atrocities committed by his ancestors. He later started a new channel, CopperVision, with his grandmother after his original account was hacked.

In 2016, CopperCab announced his transition to female and introduced himself as Claire. This transition was widely covered and praised for its bravery. However, CopperCab has since returned to identifying as male.

On January 14th, 2020, CopperCab released a follow-up video titled "GINGERS STILL HAVE SOULS!!" to mark the 10th anniversary of his original viral video. This video continued his rant about gingers having souls and received nearly 350,000 views, 17,000 likes, and 6,200 comments within eight months.
